Jamaican women miss top spots in Diamond League 400m

Dominica’s Fiordaliza Cofil stunned the field to claim the top spot in the women’s 400 metres with a personal best of 49.80 seconds at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Brussels, Belgium.

Cofil finished ahead of the Birmingham Commonwealth champion Sada Williams of Barbados, who clocked a time of 50.15 seconds, while Belgium’s Cynthia Bolingo finished third with a national record and personal best time of 50.19 seconds.

Meanwhile, Jamaica’s Candice McLeod (50.76) and Stephanie-Ann McPherson (51.73) had to settle for a fifth and eighth place finish respectively.
