World U-20 Champion Jaydon Hibbert aces CSEC exams
World Under-20 triple jump champion Jaydon Hibbert of Kingston College had another outstanding display, this time acing seven subjects in the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations with distinctions.
The 17-year-old picked up straight 1 (ones) in the seven subjects that he sat – Mathematics, English Language, French, Physics, Principles of Business, Information Technology and Social Studies.
“I’m feeling amazed and not too surprised because I worked tirelessly after training to get my school-based assessments done and my studying,” Hibbert told OBSERVER ONLINE.
Hibbert, at the age of 16, won the triple jump silver medal at the 2021 World Under-20 Championship with a 16.05m jump. Just last month, he leapt an amazing 17.29 and broke the Championship record.
Only one other Jamaican – Olympic and world long jump silver medallist James Beckford – has ever gone farther with his 17.92m national record set in 1995.
Hibbert is expected to attend the University of Arkansas to join its track and field programme for the 2022-23 academic year.
