ST ANN, Jamaica- Member of Parliament for St Ann North East, Krystal Lee, says she has made “significant strides” this year, as it relates to roads and infrastructural development in her constituency.

She made the comment during her recent contribution to the State of the Constituency Debate in the House of Representatives.

“All commitments mentioned in my presentation last year have been either completed or in the process towards execution,” she said.

Lee told her colleagues that her constituency has completed the following projects; road rehabilitation of sections of Back Salem, Islington to Bengal, Hampton, Thatchfield and Keith, as well as the implementation of a drainage system and paving at the Bamboo library.

Additionally, the implementation of a drainage system in Salem and building of the retaining wall and river training at Sleepy Hollow have also been completed. “This includes the drainage improvement at Runaway Bay to increase the runoff of storm water in the Runaway Bay Square,” said Lee.

She shared that the rehabilitation of the Milford Road in Orange Hill is currently being done and should be completed within a few days. “The procurement process is far advanced for the roadway in the Lewis community,” she added.

And Lee said that through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) sections of the Egypt roadway at the York Castle High School will be rehabilitated. “Through the Tourism Enhancement Fund sections of the Mount Pleasant to Mount Olivet roadway will be rehabilitated,” she said, while adding that rehabilitation works will take place along sections of the roadway in the community of Trysee leading to Knapdale. “This project will directly impact the lives of over 1,000 residents living in this community,” the MP said.

Lee also told the House that she was “extremely elated to announce that the Runaway Bay to Brown’s Town roadway was sent out to tender two (now three) Saturdays ago.

She said: “The people of St Ann Northwestern have been waiting for decades for the rehabilitation of this major roadway that goes to the heart of the constituency and that also links the northern part of the island to the southern areas. I want to make it categorically clear that there were no previous financial commitments in the pipeline when I just went in as Member of Parliament, to rehabilitate the Runaway Bay to Brown’s Town roadway.
