EPL: Leicester City face daunting task against champions Manchester City

LEICESTER CITY’S recent revival has eased the pressure on Coach Brendan Rodgers and they will be severely tested when they host Manchester City tomorrow, Saturday, October 29. Then, later in the day, Graham Potter returns to the club which made his reputation as one of the best current English coaches, when he takes his Chelsea side to the Seagulls to face his former team, Brighton, in an eagerly anticipated matchup.

Event # 1 – EPL, Leicester vs Manchester City – 6:30 am

Leicester with seven points from the last three matches have lifted themselves out of the bottom three, hence the visit to the champions is the last thing they would want after finally building some much-needed momentum. The Foxes, Leicester, head into this match having hammered Wolves 4-0 away from home and will be hoping to extend their good run against the current champions.

Manchester City, on the other hand, appear to have taken their feet off the pedal in Europe as they played to their second successive 0-0 in the Champions League in midweek. However, in the league they have been in excellent form, having thumped Brighton 3-1 at the weekend. Worryingly for Leicester, this has been one of the most one-sided rivalries in the Premier League, with Manchester City winning their last four games against Leicester as part of a 17-match unbeaten run against their neighbours.

KEY STATS

Leicester – are unbeaten in their last three Premier League games without conceding (W2 D1), winning their last two. They last kept four successive clean sheets in the competition in November 2019 while they last won three league games on the bounce in January 2021.

Man City – have won their last three away Premier League games against Leicester without conceding a goal. Their last away defeat there was on Boxing Day in 2018, a 2-1 loss.

Both sides – Leicester have lost nine of their last 11 Premier League matches against Manchester City.

The betting tip: Man City win.

Event # 2 EPL – Brighton vs Chelsea – 9:00 am

Chelsea will be aiming to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they travel to Brighton on Saturday as Graham Potter returns to the club that built the Englishman’s growing reputation as one of the best young coaches around. Chelsea will arrive at Brighton high on confidence as they are unbeaten in their last ten competitive matches against Brighton. home and away, securing six victories during this run. The Blues, Chelsea, enter the game following their 2-1 win over Salzburg in midweek Champions League action to book their spot in the knockout round, with a match to spare.

Brighton, on the other hand, made the unenviable trip to Etihad Stadium last weekend to face Manchester City and they were dispatched with ease, losing 3-1 with City’s goal-machine Erling Haaland hitting a quick-fire first-half double. Brighton’s home form has been their downfall so far this season as they have won just two of their five matches played whereas Chelsea arrives at the Amex as the second-best away side in the league, behind league leaders Arsenal. With that said, the last three clashes between both teams have ended in draws but, worryingly for the home side, they have not won any of their last six matches despite scoring first in three of those.

KEY STATS

Brighton – haven’t led for a single minute in any of their 10 Premier League games against Chelsea (D4 L6). The only team to play more games against a specific opponent without ever taking the lead in the competition is Portsmouth, also against Chelsea (14).

Chelsea – are unbeaten in their last six Premier League games (W4 D2), although they have drawn the last two. The Blues last drew three successive league matches in January/February 2012.

Both sides – Brighton and Hove Albion have never beaten Chelsea in the Premier League in 10 previous meetings (D4 L6), with the last three all ending as draws.

The betting tip: Chelsea win.
