Glenmuir, Manning’s square off in round-of-16 game
MAY PEN, Clarendon — Six-time champions Glenmuir High and Manning’s School will square off at Glenmuir High in a crucial ISSA/Digicel daCosta Cup round-of-16 Group Four top-of-the-zone game today, set to start at 3:00 pm.
Both teams are tied on identical statistics after winning their first games 2-0 against St Elizabeth Technical High (STETHS) and Edwin Allen High on Saturday.
STETHS and Edwin Allen High will meet at STETHS, while in Group Three former champions Clarendon College and Frome Technical will hope to register back-to-back wins in the round when they take on York Castle High and Rusea’s High, respectively.
Group Four, on paper, looks to be the most evenly matched, but Glenmuir High and Manning’s School took a big early advantage with their wins and today’s winner, should there be one, would take control of the group with one game to go.
David Reid and Orane Watson are expected to lead the Glenmuir High team against the Manning’s School team that should be led by Jhamaleek Porter, who has a knack of delivering on the big occasions.
Clarendon College are coming off a big 5-0 thrashing of Rusea’s High on Saturday and will test York Castle’s pedigree today, while Frome Technical are expected to get the better of Rusea’s again.
