WATCH: PNP a chalk, JLP a cheese says Morgan
“PNP a chalk, JLP a cheese!”
That was the sentiment expressed by the Minister with rfesponsibility for Information, Robert Morgan, as he took the People’s National Party to task during an Area Council 1 meeting at Edith Dalton James High School in Duhaney Park, St Andrew on Sunday.
Pointing out the many accomplishments achieved by the Jamaica Labour Party through the leadership of Prime Minister Andrew Holness, Morgan stated that despite chatter from the Opposition PNP about who cares more about the Jamaican people, the work of the JLP administration speaks for itself.
“Dem talk bout house, dem say dem build house fi poor people — unu ever see no PNP Minister or Prime Minister open as much house as Andrew Holness? Make we look pan di facts,” he said.
“When we took over in 2016, NHT (National Housing Trust) a build 1,859 house da year deh. Di first time we lick it inna 2017, we go 3,000 house fi di year, 2018 we go over 5,000 house fi di year, 2019 we go over 6,000 house fi di year and Prime Minister has now announced that we a build 70,000 house fi people who contribute to the NHT. PNP a chalk, JLP a cheese.”
Morgan went on further to nip at the PNP’s legacy, indicating that since the recent scandal involving more than a dozen dead babies at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital, everybody has been using it as a central talking. However, he argued that if the Opposition had done its due diligence when it formed the government, the healthcare system would not be as strained as it is today.
“Everybody a complain bout KPH (Kingston Public Hospital). People a complain bout Spanish Town Hospital, people a complain bout May Pen Hospital. Why if you inna power fi 18 years, JLP affi come and rebuild almost every hospital inna Jamaica. If you did lef a legacy fi healthcare fi Jamaican people can go to hospital and feel comfortable, Chris Tufton (Minister of Health and Wellness) wouldn’t haffi go rebuild May Pen Hospital, Spanish Town Hospital, Cornwall Regional Hospital and inna my constituency, Chapelton Hospital which ago open inna December,” said Morgan.
“So when I hear dem talk bout how dem care bout poor people, they only care about themselves because love is an action word.”
