Six Jamaicans compete for MOBO Best Caribbean Music Act
Spice, Koffee, Skillibeng, Popcaan, Shenseea and Sean Paul are the nominees in this year’s Best Caribbean Music Act category of the Music of Black Origin (MOBO) awards.
The nominations were announced on Friday in London, United Kingdom.
The Best Caribbean Music Act category replaces the Best Reggae Act category which was instituted in 1997.
This year’s staging will mark the 25th anniversary of the awards and will be held at the OVO Arena in London on November 30.
“Our 25th anniversary show will be the biggest celebration we have ever created,” said founder Kanya King in a statement on Twitter last month.
The musical genres often highlighted at the MOBO Awards include hip hop, grime, UK Drill, R&B, soul, reggae, jazz, gospel and African music.
Last year’s winner of the Best Reggae Act category was Shenseea.
