Jamaican fishermen return home
Thirty-three Jamaican fishermen who were detained for illegal fishing in Colombian waters, returned to Jamaica Friday night, officials confirmed.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade said that the men arrived at Port Royal.
Four nationals of the Dominican Republic who had been detained on the same vessel and who have work authorisation for Jamaica were also repatriated, the ministry said.
The foreign affairs ministry in a statement Saturday said that the fishermen were received at sea by members of the Jamaica Defence Force and representatives of the Passport Immigration and Citizenship Agency.
