Chapelton Maroons get first JPL goal and win
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Promoted Chapelton Maroons scored their first win and first goal of the Jamaica Premier League after edging a badly slumping Waterhouse FC 1-0 at the Stadium East Complex on Monday evening.
Rohane Brown’s first half goal was the difference in the game which was the first of a double header that also saw Portmore United and Mt Pleasant FA play out a 0-0 draw.
It was the fourth straight draw by Portmore United since the start of the season.
Brown gave Chapelton their first points of the season when he completed a slick three-man movement by firing past the Waterhouse goalkeeper at point blank range in the 20th minute.
The goal ended a run of 290 minutes without a goal and saw Waterhouse FC lose their third straight game, falling to 11th place in the league on three points, one above the relegation zone.
The games were the last in the JPL for at least the next month as the competition reportedly takes a break until December 21 after the completion of the FIFA World Cup in Doha, Qatar. However, there has been no official notice from the organisers confirming this.
Defending champions Harbour View and Montego Bay United are tied on 10 points for the lead, one more than Cavalier FC, followed by Arnett Gardens who are on seven points. Molynes United are on six points while Tivoli Gardens have gained five points to be named in the top six.
