Uncle charged with murder in stabbing death of nephew
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica – A man has been charged with murder in relation to the stabbing death of his nephew in Moreland Hill, Westmoreland, on Saturday morning.
Fitzroy Fray, 56, a labourer of Old Road Moreland Hill in the parish was charged Monday after the recording of an eyewitness statement.
Reports from the Westmoreland Police are that 36-year-old Kish Evans, a welding technician, late of Old Road Little London, went to the home of his uncle, Fray. Whilst there an argument developed between them at which point Evans started to walk out of the yard which is situated at the top of a hill.
Whilst Evans was walking out of the yard, Fray allegedly pushed his nephew from behind down the hill. Evans sought refuge in a neighbors’ yard. However, Fray reportedly followed Evans there and attacked him with a knife which he used to stab his nephew to the left side of the chest.
According to the report, Evans subsequently fell to the ground and Fray fled the scene.
The police were summoned and, upon their arrival, the body of Evans was seen lying on its back with a wound to the left side of the chest.
Evans was transported by the police to the Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The police later went in search of Fray at his home where he was found barricaded inside. The police managed to gain entry and Fray was arrested. The lawmen, upon searching his house, found a ratchet knife with what appeared to be blood stains in his waistband. Fray was then taken into police custody.
