Still no leads in death of CHEC security guards
AN investigation has been launched by the police into the shooting incident that took place at China Harbour Engineering Company headquarters on Mandela Highway on Sunday night.
“The investigators are investigating. We don’t have any leads as yet, and nobody has been apprehended as yet,” Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Stephanie Lindsay told the Jamaica Observer.
According to police, two security guards were shot dead while another who escaped the incident was found alive.
The deceased has been identified as Brandon Triston Small, 22, from Horizon Park and Lincoln Royal from Browns Hall, both in St Catherine. The men were employed by GYD Security Company.
The Observer understands that five guards, two of whom were armed, were posted at different areas of the compound when a grey-looking station wagon motorcar drove to the entrance of the facility.
Four masked men, armed with handguns, reportedly came from the vehicle and made their way over to a section of the compound where Small was seated under a gazebo. Several explosions were heard shortly afterwards.
It is understood that police were summoned to the compound and found Small lying on the ground covered in blood outside the gazebo. He was rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital by the police, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Following a further check of the compound, Royal’s body was found in the trunk of a car that he drove.
