Cambridge fight back to clip Reggae Youths 2-1
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Cambridge FC scored an upset, come-from-behind, 2-1 win over leaders Reggae Youths in their return-round game at the UDC Field on Monday to move into third place in the St James Football Association/Sandals Resorts International Major League.
Narval Lawrence and Kemario Murdock scored for Cambridge FC to avenge their first-round loss to Reggae Youths, who were losing back-to-back games but are still second in the table.
Reggae Youths needed just a point to advance to the semi-finals, joining leaders Flanker FC, and led 1-0 at half-time thanks to an 11th-minute goal from Thomas Scott who was scoring his sixth goal of the season.
Lawrence levelled the scores for Cambridge FC in the 50th minute before Murdock stunned the Reggae Youths team with a goal in the 80th minute.
The former Catherine Hall FC striker dribbled along the right touch line before firing past the goalkeeper at his near-left post.
Reggae Youths will get yet another chance to secure their semi-final place on Friday when they take on Heights FC, also at the UDC Field.
