Wingy Danejah gives thanks after successful 2022
Gospel deejay Wingy Danejah is giving praise for his accomplishments in 2022, which he describes as the most successful since he began recording almost 30 years ago.
Last October, the Florida-based artiste topped the iTunes US Reggae Songs chart with ‘Birthday’ (Remix), a collaboration with American gospel act, V Rose.
“2022 was the best year of my life, lots of great things happened for me spiritually and musically but with the blessings comes spiritual fight, hurt and pain. I went through it all, and I’m still going through a lot, but people will never know. Dem see the glory but dem don’t know the story,” Wingy Danejah reasoned.
The original cut of ‘Birthday’ was released two years ago, but in 2022 Bahamian producer DJ Frost gave the song some nips and tucks and made it more appealing.
Wingy Danejah then brought in V Rose who has made a name in contemporary gospel with several well-received electronic songs.
For Wingy Danejah, who was raised in Portmore, St Catherine, it was worth it.
“After putting in all of the hard work and seeing your song going number one on the iTunes Charts as an independent artiste, and collecting multiple awards knowing that it’s only because of the grace of God,” he said.
Inspired by acts like Tiger, his career started as a secular artiste in the early 1990s but he switched to gospel after converting to Christianity later that decade.
Wingy Danejah has recorded several albums and a number of singles. He plans to continue spreading the Word through song in 2023.
“I’m actually dropping a new single called Get to Know You then I’m going to unleash a lot of new music. Look out for something with my bro Da’Ville, another one with George Nooks, KJ-52, Angie Rose, Bri Smilez, Biancallove and many more. I’m just getting started, I don’t think I’ve done anything yet,” he said.
