J’can Anderson snatches 60-m hurdles in Berlin
JAMAICA’S Britany Anderson rebounded from her third-place finish in Poland on Wednesday to win the women’s 60-metre hurdles at Friday’s ISTAF meet at the Mercedez-Benz Arena in Berlin, a World Athletics Indoor Tour-Silver meet.
Anderson, the World Championships silver medallist, ran 7.85 seconds to beat Australia’s Michelle Jenneke (7.89 seconds), with Cyprus’s Natalia Christofi third in 8.01 seconds.
In the first round Anderson had run 7.87 seconds to win her race after she had clocked 7.86 seconds for third at the ORLEN Copernicus Cup in Torun, Poland, a World Athletics Indoor Tour-Gold event on Wednesday.
Also at ISTAF, former World Under-20 Championships winner Damion Thomas was second in the men’s 60-metre hurdles final, running a season’s best 7.65 seconds to finish behind American David King who clocked 7.63 seconds, with Italian Paolo Dal Molin third in 7.69 seconds.
Thomas had run 7.73 seconds in the qualifiers, third in his heat.
