Darling was remembered as a gifted architect who performed his job with brilliance.
In a written tribute, Usain Bolt’s UB Management Limited, among Darling’s many corporate clients for whom he designed cutting-edge buildings, said: “Euhon’s positive energy, vibrant demeanor and expressive style were the features that initially captured our attention.
“From very early, we found him to be creative and adaptable to the architectural objectives and goals of UB Management Ltd… We are deeply saddened that time didn’t allow our partnership more opportunities to make a further impact on the Jamaican/Caribbean landscape and skyline,” added the management company for the Olympic legend who has built a business empire since his retirement from athletics.
Another client of Darling, Bert’s Auto described him as “confident yet humble” and “gifted”.
“His passing brings us deep sorrow, but his memory will live on tomorrow,” the auto parts dealer wrote in tribute.
From a family of builders, Euhon Darling was introduced to the construction industry at an early age by his father, developer Anthony Darling.
In his remembrance, Anthony said his son displayed artistic qualities from as early as four years old when he used to use materials from his grandfather’s workshop to build things.
“I said to daddy (Euhon’s grandfather), ‘This boy is going to be an architect’,” Anthony said.
Euhon was also remembered as a kind-hearted and caring individual, and a very considerate employer.
He was also a devoted family man who loved spending time with his children.
Darling leaves behind his parents, two children – a son and a daughter; spouse Tracey Anderson and other family members.
