WATCH: Senior citizens left to live on sidewalk after nursing home evicted
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – Senior citizens have been living on the sidewalk outside a nursing home on Longford Avenue in Ewarton, St Catherine.
The house has been operating as the ‘Pleasant Care Nursing Home’ for about 25 years.
Reports reaching OBSERVER ONLINE are that the owner of the home had presented a court order for those occupying the premises to be evicted some time ago.
A woman, who oversees the seniors at the home, said they were not successful in finding a new house, and as a result, were not able to relocate with the seniors.
Some of the elders who were staying at the home told OBSERVER ONLINE that they were surprised when a bailiff turned up on Friday and started removing furniture.
The bailiff returned on Saturday and completed the removal, and about 20 senior citizens were left outside.
