Man in custody after stolen fibre optic cables found in truck
CLARENDON, Jamaica – One man is in custody and a manhunt launched for his two accomplices, following the seizure of a truck containing what appeared to be stolen fibre optical cables in Mineral Heights, Clarendon.
According to the police, about 3:30 Sunday morning, the May Pen patrol team received a telephone call from the May Pen radio room that men in a truck were stealing hoses in the Mineral Heights Housing Scheme. The cops responded, but upon arrival, the truck was not seen.
It is further reported that on their way back to May Pen, they received further information, which was acted upon. This information led to the seizure of a Grey Isuzu motor truck with approximately 40 pieces of 20-foot fibre optic cables.
One man was arrested and taken into custody, while two others made good their escape.
The suspect is being questioned pending charges. Investigation into the matter is ongoing.
