Showdown on Sunday
TUCKER, St James – Both St James teams Montego Bay United (MBU) and Faulkland FC will be desperate for a win when they meet on Sunday in the return round of the Jamaica Premier League at Wespow Park.
They are in the lower half of the points tables and with four games to be played before the regular season ends, the teams, which have combined for five wins, must win.
MBU are in 10th place on 22 points and could save their place for next year, but Faulkland FC are 13th on 11 points and still eight points away from safety.
MBU have won four games this season and the most recent came against Faulkland FC in the first round, while Faulkland FC’s only win was against fellow promoted club Chapleton Maroons. The latter are in last place and seem destined to be relegated at the end of the season.
Despite not winning, Faulkland FC have been scoring goals recently, but their issue is at the other end, where they cannot stop other teams from scoring as well.
After six straight draws, MBU were thrashed 4-0 on Sunday by Dunbeholden and Coach Neider Dos Santos will be expecting them to rebound.
Despite giving up the lead twice and losing to Waterhouse at the Montego Bay Sports Complex, Faulkland FC came from behind twice on Sunday to earn a 2-2 draw against Molynes. They will hope to take that momentum into the game this weekend.
