Disney Dream makes inaugural call at Falmouth Port
TRELAWNY, Jamaica – As the cruise shipping industry continues to rebound from the slump caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Disney Dream made an inaugural call at the historic town of Falmouth, Trelawny on Wednesday morning.
The vessel arrived with 3,980 passengers and 1448 crew members on board.
Mayor of Falmouth, Councillor C Junior Gager, and Custos of Trelawny Hugh Gentles, as well as representatives of the Port Authority of Jamaica, were on hand to greet officials of the ship who engaged in a plaque exchange ceremony.
Disney Dream joined Odyssey of the Seas at the Falmouth port on Wednesday.
The inaugural call of the cruise vessel came a day after Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett announced that Jamaica is projected to receive 1.4 million cruise passengers this year.
Bartlett was speaking at the opening of the 2023/24 Sectoral Debate at Gordon House on Tuesday.
“Jamaica has also experienced an uptick in cruise passengers, with approximately 855,000 visitors in 2022 and a projected 1.4 million for the current calendar year,” said Bartlett.
