Meadforest, Treasure Beach hunt third-straight win
DRAX HALL, St Ann — Leaders Meadforest FC and Treasure Beach FC will both be gunning for their third-straight win as the Jamaica Football Federation Tier II competition continues with a full slate of seven games today.
Both teams have won their first two games to lead the tables with six points and will hope to extend their good forms today with Meadforest FC taking on Brown’s Town FC at Drax Hall and Treasure Beach hosting Lime Hall Academy at Breds Sports Complex in Treasure Beach.
Meanwhile, Falmouth United and Racing United — both coming off their first wins — will clash at Elleston Wakeland Centre, while FC Reno will also seek back-to-back wins.
The Drax Hall game could be the feature of the round, featuring two teams separated by two points and yet to concede a goal between them.
Meadforest FC are coming off a 2-0 win over Wadada United FC at home and Rodari Edwards, who has scored in consecutive games, will be expected to lead the team forward.
Brown’s Town were held 0-0 by Tru-Juice on Saturday after starting the season with a win and they will be hoping to get back to winning ways.
FC Reno lost their first game, but rebounded with a come-from-behind 3-1 win over Baptist Alliance on Saturday and will start favourites against Downs YC at home at Llandilo today.
Michael Kerr got a double for FC Reno on Saturday and they will face a team that is yet to score this season.
Falmouth United will hope to avoid the slow start they had last year and a second win today would keep them closer to the leaders, but they face a Racing United team that is coming off a 2-1 win over Lime Hall and who will be confident coming into this game.
Tru-Juice FC will hope to rebound from last weekend’s draw when they take on Baptist Alliance, who lost both games played so far.
Tru-Juice FC got out of the gates with a big 5-0 win over Wadada United FC, but were held goalless by Brown’s Town and face a Baptist Alliance team that has conceded five goals in their two games so far.
Four teams are seeking their first win. Wadada United, who lost both games played, will host Albion Mountain who drew both games, and Hopewell United, who also lost both games, will host Portlanders FC who are on one point.
