St James High complete Sandals U-15 football semis
MONTEGO BAY, St James — St James High booked the final spot in the semi-finals of the St James Football Association/Sandals Resorts International Under-15 competition after beating fellow qualifiers Green Pond High 3-0 in their rescheduled game at Green Pond on Tuesday.
Ronardo Finderson scored a double to lead St James, who only needed a draw to get into the semi-finals. St James finished in second place on eight points, five behind leaders Cornwall AIA, while Green Pond and Athletes in Action, both on six points, completed the top four.
Rory Smith gave St James High the lead after just two minutes, while Finderson scored in the 20th and 56th minutes to take over the lead in the goalscoring race with five goals.
The semi-finals are scheduled to be played on May 9 and 10 at Wespow Park. Cornwall AIA and Athletes in Action are to meet in the first game, while St James High and Green Pond are set to clash in the second.
The winners are to square off in the final at Wespow Park set for May 21.
