D’ Angel eyes return to Sumfest stage
KINGSTON, Jamaica- Indicating that her catalogue is testimony to her consistency in dancehall, entertainer D’ Angel says she is eagerly awaiting the day she gets the opportunity to grace the Reggae Sumfest stage again. She believes she has what it takes to turn in a memorable set at the event widely considered the greatest reggae show on Earth.
“Mi pick Joe a IRAWMA innu and mi make him know say a long, long time now mi nuh perform a Sumfest and that’s ridiculous because I have been one of the most consistent artistes in dancehall from me buss until now. Mi fans dem keep asking me every year what’s up,” she said. “Mi nuh wah people feel like me desperate but if you’re working, you’re working and I have been putting in the work.”
Currently making waves on the music scene with her newest single, Pick The Man, D’Angel says if given the chance, her Sumfest appearance will be injected with so much creativity, the entertainment value will hit new levels.
“I am an entertainer through and through. If people a pay attention to weh mi a do wid Pick The Man right now dem will see it. Everywhere mi go people looking forward to what I will do when I touch the stage. Memba say da song yah a say weh most a di ladies dem a think but fraid fi say it innu. Mi nuh fraid fi do what it takes to keep people entertained,” she said. “Sumfest crowd is a mass crowd from all over the world wid people weh nuh even speak English sometimes but when mi done entertain, everybody ago leave happy.”
Speaking of which, D’ Angel said that of late, her performances have been leaving her fans thoroughly entertained, especially when she performs, Pick The Man.
According to her, the track is fun, provocative and sexy all at once.
“The song is just my way of sticking up for us ladies. Man love ask fi threesomes but when you as a woman say OK, but mi will pick di man, dem a have heart failure, cyah manage,” she said. “I’ve always wanted to address this topic because a lot of women don’t want to engage in any threesome but because dem nuh know how fi handle it, dem give in. I’m telling women to stand your ground because if a man want to leave him ago leave so don’t devalue yuhself fi please no one,” she argued.
With another single dubbed Trash also doing well and her long-awaited debut EP on the way, D Angel says it’s high time a new set of music lovers be introduced to D’Angel.
“I have fans that have been riding with me since day one but as I grow and mature as an entertainer, I want to gain new eyes and ears. I want the world to see what D’Angel has to offer,” she said as she revealed that a prime-time spot is not her main focus. “It nuh matter weh mi perform, I just want to perform,” she stressed.
