Dane Nelson excited about musical career
FORMER four-time Jamaican champion jockey Dane Nelson says his musical career has continued to flourish with the potential to earn huge success, as his riding career continues to spark on the international circuit.
Nelson, the proprietor of Warrior Chief Productions, recently signed a new singer, G7, who has released two songs that have received a lot of attention.
“I signed a new artiste named G7 to Warrior Chief Productions and he dropped two new singles, Me Like It and Life Changes,” Nelson explained to The Supreme Racing Guide. “It’s also two very good songs.
“What I can tell you is that things are looking great on this side as well as the musical side for me,” the swift rider remarked.
Meanwhile, Nelson rode two winners on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at the Century Mile to keep pace with the leaders in the jockeys’ championship race.
Nelson won aboard Singing Bell in the sixth race of the CAN$19,000 Allowance Optional Claiming event for trainer Cheryl Humbke. Singing Bell, a three-year-old bay filly, hung on by a nose to beat Shakinofftherust (Alexander Marti) in a time of 1:17.35.
Nelson then won the eighth event, a one-mile dirt claiming race, by two lengths aboard Carson’s Legacy for trainer Carson Frey. Carson’s Legacy won in 1:38.60 over Danza Unbridled (Enrique Gonzalez).
“Winning races on the international stage is always a good feeling. This strengthens your brand and gives you the confidence to perform more as a rider.
I am happy and grateful for everything, and I must thank the connections and everyone for their help,” Nelson added.
With those victories Nelson took his tally for the season to 10 winners, tying him for third place with Barbadian N’Rico Prescod in the jockeys’ standings, behind leader Jose Asencio on 12 and Alexander Marti on 11.
“I am getting some very good rides and so it is just for me to do the ‘Warrior’ magic and it will be all over,” Nelson said.
