Fraser-Pryce clocks 10.82 to win first 100m of season
World Champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce opened her 100m season with an easy looking 10.82 seconds (0.3m/s) to break the meet record at the pitzen Leichathletik Luzern at Stadion Allmend in Switzerland, a World Athletics Continental Tour- Silver event on Thursday.
Despite not getting her usual bullet start, Fraser-Pryce took charge of the race midway and ran away to beat the 10.91 second meet record set by Shana Pintusevich-Block in 2002.
Natasha Morrison was fifth in 11.18 seconds while Briana Williams finished in 11.35 seconds.
Earlier, Julian Forte ran a season’s best 9.99 seconds to win the men’s 100m, beating national champion Rohan Watson who finished strong with 10.03 seconds while Michael Campbell ran 10.21 seconds.
