Bridge Official to make transition from fashion to music, says entertainment is in their DNA
When people hear Bridge Official, sweatsuits and trendy, comfort wear come to mind.
Over the past three years, the clothing brand has made its mark on the local fashion industry, looping in famous local influencers to showcase their latest designs and cementing themselves as a serious local fashion powerhouse.
Still, as they look to transition into the next phase of brand-building via music production, the man behind the Bridge will be quick to point out that the entertainment industry was where it all began.
“I tell people all the time that the brand or the idea of The Bridge has been around for over 10 years. It’s a brotherhood, a movement, an idea that started with …youths who just always keep a solid connection. We used to call wi self Bridge Boyz because of that connection. We were all in different cities but we always a link up,” Bridge’s Dusean Bembridge told OBSERVER ONLINE.
“Because we always a link up, we started hosting events and got into party promotion. That’s what a lot of people don’t know. So the typical reaction would be that the fashion boys weh make sweatsuits [long] ago try do music. No, we’ve been in the entertainment industry. Music is part of our DNA and so this is just a natural transition as we grow our brand.”
Their debut production, the Bridge Riddim was released on Friday and features six tracks including songs from Rytikal, Kash Promisemove, hot newcomer, Armani as well as established act, Chronic Law. The project also features two up-and-coming artistes; Slu and Nequa Rebel.
“The debut project is called the Bridge Riddim. Mi couldn’t name it anything else. That’s our brand and people are familiar with it so di connection affi make,” said the up-and-coming producer. Co-produced by Sasha Bling from BlingBlangWork, Bembridge said the project will take you to ‘therapy.’
“The project is not ‘jump up, jump up’, ‘dancy dancy’, ‘summery’ music. It’s slow, low-tempo, singjay type of vibe. It’s a riddim with tracks that will take you to therapy. Music therapy is what it is. It’s the kind of vibe that will get you thinking,” he said lauding BlingBlang for her guidance. “I’m just stepping into music production so obviously mi did affi partner wid somebody who have the no-how, the knowledge which is of course, BlingBlang. When mi tell her about mi plan she was very excited, jumped on board and helped me to push it. I have 100 per cent faith in her. I know she can guide me and coach me.”
Bembridge says he’s banking on his debut project to launch his production career as he’s hoping the brand can become as popular in music as it is in fashion.
