Man dead, teen hospitalised after ambush in St Mary
ST MARY, Jamaica — A 37-year-old man is dead while a 12-year-old boy has been hospitalised with gunshot wounds after a reported ambush by armed men in the Boscobel housing scheme in St Mary on Monday.
Dead is Jahvaine “Ratty” White, an unemployed man from Annotto Bay. The young boy’s name is being withheld.
According to the St Mary police, around 9:00 pm, White, who was staying with his sister in the Boscobel housing scheme, received a call. The young boy accompanied him to the Boscobel scheme roundabout. As they arrived, men waiting in a motor car opened fire. Both males were taken to the Port Maria hospital where White died.
His sister Jamele White said she is shocked and has no idea why her brother was killed.
“I don’t know what happened. I know he got a call to collect parts for his bike and the next thing I heard a gunshot,” the distraught woman told OBSERVER ONLINE.
The police have not yet ascertained a motive for the attack.
