Man in custody following seizure of firearm, ammo in St Thomas

ST THOMAS, Jamaica – One man is in custody following a raid that led to the seizure of a firearm and ammunition in Jane Ash Corner, Duckenfield district, St Thomas on Friday morning.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Oniel Thompson, operations officer for the parish, said the raid was carried out minutes to 6 am.

Reports are that one .45 semiautomatic Pistol was recovered. The firearm was fitted with one magazine containing 6.45 cartridges.

A further search of the dwelling saw the recovery of two 12 gauge cartridges.

The man’s identity is being withheld pending further investigations.
