Wolmer’s take winning streak to six
FORMER champions Wolmer’s recorded their sixth victory in the ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup competition, getting by hosts Vauxhall High 3-0 in Group G on Tuesday.
Nathaniel Brooks, Jahiem Besentie, and Jayden Walters were the goalscorers for the Jerome Waite-coached Wolmer’s.
Waite says despite the poor condition of the playing surface he was pleased with his team’s performance.
“It was a convincing win for us but the playing surface wasn’t the best,” he said. “But, all in all, I think that the team did fairly well.
“However we still have a lot of work to do, not only physically but technically because these are youngsters, and it is a development programme, and we are not that fortunate like other schools to have a lot of quality players but we are spending time to work on what we have here.”
In the group’s other game, St Jago recorded their fifth-straight victory this season, beating hosts Donald Quarrie 3-1 at Harbour View Stadium.
Last year’s runners-up, St Andrew Technical High School, registered their seventh-straight win, beating Bridgeport 3-1 at the Boys’ Town field.
