No panic at St James parish court
MONTEGO BAY, St James – The swaying of the ground did not cause panic at St James Parish Court on Monday, not even for those who actually felt the tremor.
According to a policewoman who was in the building at the time, no one panicked, and court staff calmly walked to the assembly point in the parking lot, with some lawyers saying they had not felt the 5.6 magnitude earthquake.
The cop said the prisoners in the dock at the time showed no signs that they were even aware there was an earthquake.
While the tremor was felt in St James, Hanover, Westmoreland, and Trelawny, there were no initial reports of major damage, disruption, or injuries in any of these parishes.
