H.U.M.B.L.E releases debut album Decalogue: The Heartwork

Acapella gospel group H.U.M.B.L.E. released its debut album Decalogue: The Heartwork on October 1 and, according to group member Chevaughn Walker, the project is a special one for the six-member ensemble.

“This album is very special to us. This is our first full-length album and it has 10 songs, nine of which are original. What’s particularly special is that each original song was uniquely handcrafted; solely written and arranged by the group members. Then, with the help of Richard Spencer, our producer, and our very own Albert Walker as co-producer, this album came to life,” Walker disclosed in an interview with the Jamaica Observer.

Decalogue: The Heartwork is the follow-up to the group’s 2016 EP titled Genesis.

Said Walker: “This album showcases the group’s exceptional vocal talents, impeccable harmonies, and creative arrangements that promise to take listeners on a sonic journey like never before.”

Songs featured on the album include Stand, Prepare, Heaven One Day, Try Him Out, Teach Us, SOS featuring Oshane Mais, and Forgive Me.

Formed in 2005 with three members, today H.U.M.B.L.E. has six members. They are brothers Albert and Julan Walker, Chevaughn Walker (no relation), Errol Martin, Daniel Davis, and Aaron Cummings.

Chevaughn recalls the group’s journey through the years.

“The journey has been one filled with myriad obstacles. Like life, it has been filled with tears and happiness, highs and lows. All in all, we have been blessed to walk this road. God has been good to us.”

The acronym H.U.M.B.L.E. means Hearts United Minds Bonded in Love for Eternity.

“H.U.M.B.L.E. brings together a rich tapestry of voices to create a musical experience that transcends genres and leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of our listeners. Our essence speaks to dedication, precision, and a passion for vocal artistry. From soulful ballads that tug at the heartstrings, to energetic rhythmic anthems that make you want to dance, H.U.M.B.L.E. offers a diverse range of musical experiences that will leave you lifted,” Walker explained.

The members of the group reside across Portmore, Kingston, and St Andrew.

“God has been good to us. We do believe that the production of our album is the highlight of our musical journey thus far. The feedback, the messages, calls, and expressions of love coming from our listeners, have been phenomenal. We are so very grateful,” Walker stated.

In 2017 the group was nominated in the Sterling Gospel Music Awards for the categories Best Collaboration and Group of the Year. This year, they received another nod in the Group of the Year category.

“It is a humbling experience to be recognised for the work that we have been putting in. It’s phenomenal, and this also encourages us to keep serving. We are happy and grateful for what God has given to us so far. We also hope to continue making soul stirring music to keep breaking barriers, tapping into new markets, and exploring other ideas. Most importantly, we hope to keep blessing others with what God has blessed us with,” Walker shared.
