Half Moon Founders Cup raises $5.5 million for hospital, scholarship
The highly anticipated staging of the Half Moon Founders Cup, presented by Digicel Business, exceeded fund-raising targets in aid of western Jamaica’s Cornwall Regional Hospital, and the recently established Margaret Steuart Scholarship.
Last Saturday, the golf tournament raised $5.5 million, which is more than the previous two events’ combined figure of $5.3 million. This achievement was possible with the support of 29 sponsors, led by the presenting sponsor Digicel Business.
The Cornwall Regional Hospital, being a type A facility and the only one outside of Kingston offering select specialist services, received $4 million towards equipment purchases. The balance went towards the Margaret Steuart Scholarship fund, which was inspired by the mother of Guy Steuart III, chairman of Half Moon’s board of directors.
