Man City, Leverkusen aim for domestic double

Man City, Leverkusen aim for domestic double

Manchester City and Bayer Leverkusen will be aiming for a domestic double when they take on Manchester United and Kaiserslautern, respectively, in the FA Cup and DFB Pokal finals this Saturday.

Event # 1 – FA Cup – Man City vs Man United – 9:00 AM

For the second consecutive season, rivals Manchester City and Manchester United face each other in the FA Cup final. City will be aiming to do the double, while United will need to win to secure European football for next season. Indeed, for the first time in FA Cup history, the same two English teams will contest the final in back-to-back seasons — City defeated United last season as they won their famous treble. Having secured their record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title with a 3-1 win over West Ham last weekend, City are now looking to win the FA Cup in back-to-back seasons for the first time in their history. Indeed, City have been near unstoppable, having gone unbeaten in their last 35 matches in all competitions, the longest run by an English side in the Premier League era, taking the record from their rivals and opponents Manchester United and will be hoping to extend the record at the Wembley stadium.

Manchester United, on the other hand, know that winning the FA Cup is their only way of securing European football next season, as despite winning on the final day of the regular season, they finished a disappointing eighth. This was their worst-ever finish in a Premier League campaign and the first time they have ever ended a season with a negative goal difference (-1). However, this will be a huge Manchester derby, and anything can happen, just like United’s last two matches in the previous rounds. In the quarter-finals they came back twice against Liverpool at home, equalising in the 87th minute before securing a famous 4-3 win in stoppage time to send their fans into a frenzy. Their semi-final game against Coventry was the complete opposite to the Liverpool game as, despite leading 3-0 in the 70th minute, they were almost embarrassed after letting that lead slip and had to scrape through on penalties. On the brighter side, it now means United have reached more FA Cup finals than any other team in the competition’s history.

Justbet customers who made a bet for $1,500 or more between March 1 and April 28, 2024 will be entered into a draw to win a trip to the 2024 UEFA Champions League finals.

Key Stats

• Man City — Manchester City have scored 2+ goals in 10 of their last 12 games and are unbeaten in their last 35 matches. City have won all five FA Cup matches this season.

• Man United — Manchester United have kept just one clean sheet in their last 12 matches. United have lost two of their last four matches in all competitions.

• Both sides — Man City have won the last three Manchester derbies, including last season’s FA Cup final.

The betting Tip. Man City win.

Event # 2 German Cup — Kaiserslautern vs Leverkusen – 1:00 PM

It will be David versus Goliath as Kaiserslautern and newly crowned Bundesliga champions Leverkusen square off in the DFB Pokal final tomorrow. Interestingly, Kaiserslautern have a better overall record in the DFB Pokal than Leverkusen, after winning the title on two previous occasions and reaching the final five other times. However, their most recent appearance in the final came back in the 2002/03 season when they were beaten by Bayern Munich. But this season has been a difficult one for Kaiserslautern, as they have struggled in mid-table, eventually finishing a disappointing 14th. But they have caused some major shocks on their way to the final of the DFB Pokal, eliminating some big teams to book their spot in the finals.

Bayer Leverkusen will be aiming to become the first side in German league history to complete an invincible domestic double, and the newly crowned Bundesliga champions are understandably massive favourites to achieve this feat, having gone unbeaten in all 51 matches played in all competitions so far this season. Since securing their first-ever Bundesliga title by mauling Werder Bremen 5-0, Leverkusen have kept their foot on the gas as they continue to churn out victories with ease, eventually finishing 17 points clear of second-placed Stuttgart in the league standing. Indeed, a memorable season for Bayer Leverkusen comes to its conclusion on Saturday as they aim to win the domestic double, and they will also contest the Europa League final on Wednesday against Atalanta, which means they could have two trophies in the bag before the weekend encounter.

Justbet customers who made a bet for $1,500 or more between March 1 and April 28, 2024 will be entered into a draw to win a trip to the 2024 UEFA Champions League finals.

• Both sides – Leverkusen have been dominant in their recent meetings with Kaiserslautern, having won five of their last six meetings, including a 2-0 win in their most recent meeting. Kaiserslautern’s only win against Leverkusen was in the DFB Pokal, but that was back in 2014.
