Noticeable progress made by She’s That Girl
Three-year-old chestnut filly She’s That Girl showed expected yet impressive progress, securing her second-consecutive victory in as many starts at the races on Saturday, June 8, 2024.
She’s That Girl dominated the competition in a six-furlong contest for native-bred three-year-olds, non-winners of two and imported maidens within the same age group.
Trained by Steven Todd, the talented filly led the race from start to finish, crossing the line an impressive 2 ¼ lengths ahead of the field, with a time of 1:13.47 (22.63 x 46.91 x 59.90). This impressive win showcases her potential as a rising star in the racing world.
“She [She’s That Girl] has shown improvement from her first win on May 5. We ran her going four furlongs and she fought hard for that victory but she was better prepared for this race and she showed everything that she did in her exercise gallops,” Todd told the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide.
“She is super-fast. She has shown good speed in the mornings and so we tried to regulate that speed as much as possible and get her to races and we know she would be alright. We are going to take it day by day with her and see what happens,” Todd continued.
She’s That Girl was hustled up by jockey Tevin Foster at the start of the race to take up the running.
The Sensational Slam offspring led ahead of Warsaw (Raddesh Roman),
Bold Move (Omar Walker), and Smart Trick (Matthew Bennett).
She’s That Girl maintained her gallop well going into the half-mile turn and began to extend her lead approaching the distance. She kept up well in deep stretch and won ahead of Magnificent Force (Oneil Mullings) and
Shooting Star (Phillip Parchment).
As to whether She’s That Girl will race in the remaining two, three-year-old Classic races, the 10-furlong Jamaica St Leger, and the 12-furlong Jamaica Derby, Todd said: “She’s That Girl will not be racing in the St Leger. What will happen afterwards, only time will tell, but I am pleased with the progress she is making, and long may it continue.”
