#ParisOlympic: Both Jamaican men into 200m repechage round

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaican sprinters Bryan Levell and Andrew Hudson will compete in the 200m repechage round for a chance to qualify for the semi-finals at the Paris Olympic Games after finishing fourth in their respective heats at Stade de France on Monday.

The repechage round is scheduled as the final event on Tuesday’s morning session.

First-time national champion Levell started strong but faded to fourth, finishing in 20.47 seconds (0.1m/s). He missed the automatic qualifying spots behind 100m champion Noah Lyles of the USA, who won with 20.19 seconds, followed by Canada’s defending Olympic champion Andre de Grasse with 20.30 seconds, and Japan’s Towa Uzawa with 20.33 seconds.

Hudson, a finalist in the 200m at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest last year, also had a fast start but finished fourth in his heat with 20.53 seconds (-0.1m/s).

Uganda’s Tarsis Gracious Orogot came from behind to win with 20.32 seconds, followed by Wanya McCoy of the Bahamas with 20.35 seconds, and Renan Correa of Brazil with 20.41 seconds.
