Duncans United and 12th Street rebound with wins
Duncans United and 12th Street rebounded from their 2-2 draw a week ago to score wins over Lucea United FC and Granville United, respectively, as the Jamaica Football Federation Championship play-offs continued on Saturday.
Duncans United of Trelawny held off Lucea United 2-1 at Watson Taylor Park, while Michael Kerr scored a brace for 12th Street of Westmoreland who came from a goal down to beat Granville United 3-1.
Both Duncans United and 12th Street improved to 12 points in Group D, while Lucea United are on three points and Granville yet to score in the competition that will see teams being promoted to the championship when the season kicks off later in the season.
Garfield Stewart gave Duncans United the lead in the 40th minute and Oshane Plummer doubled the advantage when he scored in 55th minute.
Sewayne Stewart pulled a goal back for Lucea United FC when he scored in time added on in the second half.
At Llandilo Sports Complex, Granville United took the lead through Kavarn Wilson in the 25th minute but Kerr equalised in the 36th minute before giving them the lead in the 47th minute.
Abena Wallace then added a third goal in the 56th minute to secure the points.
Granville United finished the game with 10 players even though they had two players who were shown red cards. Substitute goalkeeper Loxley Reid junior was sent off in the 70th minute, while Damion Reid was shown a red card in time added in the second half.
