#ParisOlympics: Smith finishes 8th in women’s long jump
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Ackelia Smith finished eighth in the women’s long jump on Thursday’s afternoon session of the Olympic games at Stade de France in Paris with a best mark of 6.66m (0.1m/s).
It was her second top eight placing at the Games after she was seventh in the triple jump last weekend with 14.42m.
The NCAA double champion and national champion got her best mark in the long jump on her first attempt and also had a 6.52m jump as well. American Tara Davis-Woodhall won her first Olympic gold medal with 7.10m (0.8m/s), beating defending champion Malaika Mihambo of Germany- 6.98m (0.5m/s) while American Jasmine Moore was third with 6.96m (0.2m/s).
