From as early as she can remember Savana LaVie has had an affinity for music.

“I began singing in church with my mom and my sister as a trio when I was a toddler. I was so small I had to stand on a chair so the people could see me,” she said.

The Cayman-born singer, who lists Marcia Griffiths, Beres Hammond, Gregory Isaacs, and Millie Jackson among her musical influences, does not believe in musical labels.

“I’ve often been described as an eclectic artiste because I experiment with various genres, including reggae, R&B, gospel, and Rock. Whenever I am writing a song anything’s possible; I could write something deep and thought-provoking or something romantic, it all depends on what I’m feeling at the time,” said Savana LaVie.

She is currently promoting her single titled Mama’s Gone, which is a tribute to her mother who passed away in 2022.

“Writing and recording this song was a very painful experience for me, but I had to do it. My mother was very sweet and kind. She was dedicated to taking care of her family and helping the people in her community. I miss her so much,” she said.

Savana LaVie is determined to make her mark on the local music scene with her unique blend of music

“I have Jamaican roots on my mother’s side of the family, my great-grandparents are from Jamaica. So, although I grew up in Cayman, I was exposed to the Jamaican culture since I was a child, and I knew from an early age that I wanted to live here. So, this is the place I want to make the biggest impact with my music,” she said.
