MBJ Airports Limited supports back-to-school initiatives
MORE 130 students recently received back-to-school support from MBJ Airports Limited (MBJ), operator of Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay.
Sixty-one students residing in Whitehouse, St James, were presented with book vouchers valued at $5,000 each at the community’s Recreational Shoreline Fishing Tournament. Meanwhile, 78 students in Woodsville, Hanover, received backpacks, all stocked with notebooks donated by MBJ at a community back-to-school treat and health fair at Woodsville.
“At MBJ, we believe that investing in education is investing in the future of Jamaica. Each year, we ensure that we play our part by ensuring students have the essential resources as they prepare for the new school year,” said Sharon Hislop-Holt, manager of commercial business development and marketing at MBJ Airports Limited.
“Through these efforts, we help to provide the students, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds, with some of the necessary tools to succeed in school,” she continued.
Community leaders expressed their gratitude for MBJ’s consistent support. Tisa Anderson, president of the Whitehouse Community Development Club, which hosted the tournament, acknowledge the company’s year-round involvement in various community programmes and thanked MBJ for always supporting the annual back-to-school initiative.
In Woodsville, local organisers noted that MBJ’s contributions to their children would have a “lasting impact on their academic journey and make a difference in our community”.
MBJ said the back-to-school activities are part of its broader corporate social responsibility efforts, aimed at fostering community growth, supporting education development, and improving the quality of life for many families in Jamaica. By focusing on education, MBJ Airports Limited helps alleviate the financial burden on families and ensures that students have access to the tools they need to support their academic success.
