Manchester double murder suspect killed in shootout with police
MANCHESTER, Jamaica— A man suspected to have been involved in Tuesday’s double murder in Albion, Manchester, was fatally shot in the neighbouring community of Newlands during an alleged confrontation with law enforcement on Saturday morning.

The man, whose formal identity is not yet known, was also labeled as a trouble-maker by residents.
Preliminary reports are that about 5:30am police went in search of the suspect at a house when they were fired on. The gunfire was returned and during the ensuing shootout the man was fatally wounded.
His death comes as a relief to his ‘uncle’, Ainsley Swaby, who told Observer Online how the incident unfolded.
“By them (police) go over there and reach the door a shot blow! If the police never shift himself him get shot. The first shot him (suspect) fire after the police and there goes. Now them say dem nah give him no chance from deh suh and dem just start send it pon him,” said Swaby.
He said his relatives had struggled to get the suspect to vacate a family property leading to a land dispute, which is now before the court.
“From the last four months we having some problems with this guy personally and my old lady and old man passed away and my sister is the owner for the house and we having a problem with one of our brothers who brought this criminal inna we yard. They keep saying is my brother son and I don’t know him from nowhere,” said Swaby.
He said the suspect had issued threats to relatives.
“Now that the police come and destroy him, the family and the community feel more comfortable. Is like everybody in the community was in fear of this guy,” said Swaby.
