KINGSTON, Jamaica— Rajindra Campbell, who created history in Paris last month when he became the first Jamaican to win a medal in the shot put event at the Olympic Games after he claimed bronze, continued his impressive form by setting a new national record of 22.31m at Saturday’s Ivan Ivancic Memorial in Zagreb, Croatia.
The 28-year-old finished third at Saturday’s meet behind Americans Ryan Crouser and Payton Otterdahl who were first and second respectively.
Campbell opened his competition with 21.05m and followed up with 21.56m in round three before hitting the 22.31m mark in round four, breaking his own previous national record of 22.22m set in Madrid, Spain last year.
