Sensational Move lives up to expectations with dominant win
In a performance that was nothing short of sensational, Gary Subratie-conditioned Sensational Move delivered a scintillating display to claim the $1.25-million top-rated Overnight Allowance contest, the main attraction on Saturday’s 10-race
card.
As the heavy 3-5 favourite in the field of eight runners, Sensational Move was expected to dominate, and dominate he did. He stormed to the finish line, crossing four lengths clear of rivals in the three-year-old and upward event over the five-furlong (1,000m) straight course.
With Raddesh Roman guiding him, Sensational Move burst out of the starting gates, swiftly claiming the early lead. He set the pace, with Chocomo (Robert Halledeen),
Generational (Paul Francis), and A Gift From Ben (Shane Richardson) hot on his heels.
As the field approached the dummy rials, Sensational Move remained in control, his rivals struggling to keep pace. However, it was when he hit the main track for the final two furlongs (400m) of the race that he truly unleashed his power. With a devastating acceleration, he powered home, leaving his competitors in his wake, crossing the finish line first, stopping the clock in an impressive 57.2 (22.0 x 45.0).
Freedom Street (Arnaldo Bocachica) and Taurus Boy (Richard Henry) trailed, securing second and third place, respectively.
Meanwhile, Robert Halledeen emerged as the star among the riders, booting home three winners. Halledeen’s winning spree began with Eagle One in the third race, trained by Jason DaCosta. He then teamed up with Patrick Lynch’s Chief Dissident to claim the seventh race. Finally, he capped off his stellar performance with a win aboard
Norblar, trained by Gresford Smith, in the 10th and final event, aptly named in honour of Eros.
Racing continues today with the fourth running of the Winston “Fanna” Griffiths OD Classic feature race. Captain
Sparrow, trained by Anthony Nunes, is the morning favourite. First post is 11:30 am.
