Kingston Polo Club to host True Pet Expo October 13

Kingston Polo Club to host True Pet Expo October 13

KINGSTON Polo Club at Caymanas is set to host the third staging of True Pet Expo on October 13 and the organisers are promising that the event, which targets owners of dogs and animal enthusiasts, will be “bigger, better and exciting”.

According to Shevoneese McFarlane, digital sales and marketing coordinator at True Pet Food, the expo is more than just an event, “it’s a celebration of the bond we share with our pets” and provides a platform for Jamaicans to come together, connect, and share knowledge.

“Education is a big thing for us at True, and we are just playing our part to further the agendas of our pet community members,” a release from the company quotes McFarlane.

The second staging of the event last year was held at Hope Zoo in collaboration with the German Shepherd Club. More than 1,500 people were in attendance, some coming as far as Westmoreland.

“Last year’s event was a great experience. Seeing all the different breeds of dogs in our little island and fostering community among industry leaders was a huge milestone for us at True. We had zero incidents with dogs or humans and the vibes were just right,” McFarlane shared.

“We had veterinarians, groomers, breeders, pet accessories vendors, pet memorial services, trainers, pet insurance, and the animal shelters — most of whom participated in our forum discussing important topics that affect the pet community, which included pet adoption,” she added.

The organisers say that at this year’s True Pet Expo, patrons and their dogs will be able to compete in the entertainment zone to win prizes.

“From the moment patrons enter they have the option to participate in a scavenger hunt, powered by Ngage Ja, which takes them to several areas of the expo, giving our vendors and sponsors maximum exposure while allowing our patrons to network with others and win. Because of the additional space at this new venue, there will be so many more activities for the entire family to enjoy. Whether you have a furry friend or not, you are guaranteed to have a good time,” McFarlane shared.

Other attractions will include a kiddie village, food village (powered by CB Foods), the True Pet Industry Awards Presentation, a healthy competition, free vet checks, and an educational forum panel.

The release said National Baking Company, Lasco Distributors,
CVM TV, CB Foods, Blueprint Events, and Jamaica Manufacturers and Exporters Association have also thrown their support behind this initiative.

“We decided on this location because it’s a bigger space and much cooler for our furry friends. As the days grow hotter we have to ensure the safety and comfort of all patrons, which also includes our pets,” McFarlane disclosed.

Dufton “Duff” Shepherd and Wesley Hylton, aka Zess, will host the event which will also provide wholesome activities for the family including sack races, a fashion show, the strongest man competition, among others.

Presenters will include veterinarians, trainers, members of Jamaica Kennel Club, American Bully Kennel Club, and Montego Bay Animal Haven. They will provide insightful information to pet owners and animal enthusiasts alike.
