Police High Command expresses sadness after two constables die in car crash
CLARENDON, Jamaica — The Police High Command says it is saddened by the death of two police constables in a motor vehicle accident on the York Town main road, May Pen in Clarendon on Sunday.
Dead are 22-year-old Shawn Atkinson and Jessica West, also 22, both constables assigned to the Clarendon Division.
According to reports, about 6:30 pm, the officers were travelling along the roadway when the driver of the service vehicle lost control of the unit, which crashed into a ditch.
Atkinson and West were pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
A police sergeant and a constable, who were also in the service vehicle at the time of the crash, sustained injuries and remain hospitalised.

An investigation into the circumstances that led to the crash is underway.
