AFTER two competitive starts at this Overnight Allowance level, Paul Swaby-trained Grecian Light is poised to capitalise on that experience and dominate rivals in the $1.25-million Caymanas Park Announcers’ Trophy — the main feature on the 10-race card on Saturday.

Grecian Light was disappointing in her second attempt at this level over nine furlongs and 25 yards (1,820m) on September 8. She finished in fifth position by 9½ lengths behind D Head Cornerstone in 1:57.2.

However, the three-year-old bay filly showed promise with a 2½-length second-place fininsh to Fearless Soul over six furlongs (1,200m) on August 17. Grecian Light, who is working well for this race, can get the job done.

Tevin Foster remains in the saddle aboard Grecian Light.

The contest for three-year-olds and upward going six and a half furlongs (1,300m) is positioned as the 10th and final event on the card with a post time of 5:10 pm. First race is at 11:30 am.

Based on the quality of runners in the field, Oasis Jak, Money Market and Burlap are expected to play prominent roles here.

Oasis Jak was impressive when placing third behind Digital One and Money Market over five furlongs (1,000m) round on September 15. She was coming way off the pace to finish 6¼ lengths behind the winner and just two lengths behind Money Market.

Oasis Jak, now going a furlong and half longer (300m), is expected to contend strongly.

Money Market was narrowly beaten by Perfect Brew over five and a half furlongs (1,100m) on October 6, losing out by a ¾ length distance at the wire. Despite the extra distance, Money Market poses a significant threat.

Burlap was a late withdrawal, due to injury on September 21, but the bay colt has worked fairly well coming into this race. Burlap strode six furlongs (1,200m) in 1:20.2 on October 16 before cantering nine furlongs (1,800m) a week later. He is expected to make a strong return and contend.
