Oliver plans return to local stage with Lucky Money
‘King of Jamaican Comedy’ Oliver Samuels is readying to return to Jamaican stages with the opening of his brand-new play Lucky Money!
Samuels is set to dazzle audiences alongside beloved Jamaican actors Karen Harriott and Tesfa Edwards in a production that promises laughter, drama, and cultural flair.
Harriott brings her seasoned talent to the production, adding depth to her role and a unique dynamic shared with Samuels.
Rising star Edwards is quickly establishing himself as a force in Jamaican theatre, and his role in Lucky Money will undoubtedly captivate audiences.
Directed by acclaimed producing artistic director Pablo Hoilett, Lucky Money! is a witty and heartfelt exploration of unlikely friendship, betrayal, and the humour found in everyday life.
“We’re absolutely thrilled and excited to be performing in Jamaica again,” said Samuels. “There’s a certain joy that comes from performing in front of your people in the place you were born and raised. Not to mention the type of laughs that come with it; Jamaicans have the best laughs in the world,” he continued.
Samuels’ career spans over five decades and he is known for his charismatic characters and infectious humour. His return to the stage is highly anticipated by fans and newcomers alike.
Lucky Money premières January 1, 2025 and runs through February 16, 2025 at Little Theatre.
