Agent Sasco is a firm believer in the stars aligning when and how they should. So much so that he recorded the demo to his most recent collaboration more than a decade ago.

The track, Everything and Anything, features singer Lila Iké, who 11 years ago, when the song was first crafted, hadn’t even begun her musical journey.

Agent Sasco tells the Jamaica Observer’s Splash that hearing Ike’s voice on the record today is proof things will always fall into place in perfect timing.

“I recorded actually two verses of this song in 2013. I did a demo at Daseca, left it there and didn’t even remember it. Several weeks ago Craig Daseca reached out to me and was like, ‘Mi have supm’n fi yuh listen.’ When I heard it I was like, ‘What is this?’ They changed the beat and everything and so it took me a while to realise that this was the same single,” he said. “It was then that Craig told me he had a vision and that he only wanted Lila on the hook. We reached out and it happened.”

Highlighting that the universe conspired to bring him and Lila Iké together on the track, Agent Sasco said the single even corresponded perfectly with the message behind his upcoming concert, Grateful. He said the song is one of thanksgiving, which just happened to be the theme for his December 29 show.

“When we started to work on it we started to recognise that we have the show coming up; it’s called Grateful, and that the song embodies all of that. But the track itself wasn’t borne from trying to marry a song to the concert; it kinda just happened and it made sense,” he said. “We played it for Lila and she said yes right away. It was magical. Jesse Royal was also in the studio trying to put together the chorus with us, and so he too was a big part of the overall creative process, and everything just came together naturally and it was just beautiful,” he shared.

Labelling Lila Iké a “a young master of her craft”, Sasco said the singer is immensely talented with unlimited potential.

“The sound of her voice is one thing, but the texture and feelings she’s able to evoke using that voice is outstanding. Her delivery on the record, man, we couldn’t have asked for anything more perfect,” he said. “This was actually our second time working together because we worked on Not Another Word together with Protoje, but this time around it was very different. I am happy we got the opportunity to make this record and already the feedback has been outstanding.”

Everything and Anything was released last weekend and has already amassed over 50,000 views on YouTube. The track was produced by Daseca Productions and is currently available for streaming on all digital platforms.
