Owner Solomon Sharpe has high hopes for Rideallday after impressive debut win
Solomon Sharpe, owner of Rideallday, is ecstatic about the two-year-old grey/roan American-bred colt’s impressive debut win in a maiden special weight contest for native-bred and imported two-year-olds over 5 ½ furlongs (1,100m) on Saturday, December 7, 2024.
Ridden by Raddesh Roman, the Philip Feanny-trained Rideallday made one move to easily win by 7 ¾ lengths in a time of 1:06.3 (24.0 x 47.3 x 59.3), beating Fearless Mission (Shane Ellis) and RicoRicoRico (Tevin Foster).
Sharpe, who purchased Rideallday at the Ocala Breeders’ Sale for US$25,000 in June of this year, believes the colt has more than average ability and could be a very smart one in the making.
“This is excellent,” Sharpe told the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide.
“This is a part of the programme that we are doing here. We want to bring quality bloodstock. We went up to the June sale, myself, Philip Feanny and Dwight Chen. Immediately when I saw this grey horse, I felt in love, and he [Philip Feanny] said ‘Sala’ you like him, and I said yes,” Sharpe further added.
Sharpe recalled his conversation with Feanny, saying: “We checked him out, he [Rideallday] checked out clean, and I told Feanny that he is going to do great things with this horse. So, we are going to buy this one for you, and you are going to train him, and so far, so good, and you can’t ask for anything more, 1:06.3 on debut, it’s all good going in the right direction.”
Sharpe acknowledged that Rideallday is still a baby and needs time to develop. “He is a baby, and so we have to give some time to see how he came out of the race, and then it is all up to the trainer after this,” he said.
When asked about his expectations for Rideallday’s future, Sharpe replied: “The sky is the limit, and we hope that he will be in the Mouttet Mile next year. That was what these horses are bought for, and to make sure that racing in Jamaica goes to the next level.”
Roman also had high praise for the two-year-old grey/roan American-bred colt,
Rideallday.
“This horse is a very nice horse. Every morning, I told the trainer that I don’t want anyone on him, I want to programme him right through because I believe that he is something special. Well, as you can see, he is a baby, running 1:06.3 for the first time is very impressive and so we expect a lot more improvement from him,” Roman said.
