Papiito Ferguson lands collab with Munga Honourable
Singer looking forward to solid musical showing in 2025
A regular conversation between 2014 Digicel Rising Stars winner, Papiito Ferguson and established dancehall deejay Munga Honourable, led to a collaboration Papiito described as a ‘toast to life.’
“That single with me and Munga was completely organic. We had been working together a lot throughout the course of last year because he (Munga) has been like an older brother to me in the industry. One day we were just having a conversation and vibing to a beat inside a parking lot and the idea just came about,” he said. “We were giving thanks for life and we were singing melodies until we started adding words. The single is called
Celebrate Life, and so you can just tell that it’s gives off just pure good gas.”
Highlighting that he has the most respect for Munga Honourable’s artistry, Papiito, who also hails from St Mary, says he knows the single has the ability to attract massive listenership.
“I see this song as an anthem, a celebration anthem. It can be played if you’re marking any significant milestone; whether a graduation, a birthday, an anniversary, you name it, you can play this song. Once you’re in a good mood, and you want to acknowledge that through music, this is the song,” said the artiste.
Celebrate Life is now available across all digital platforms.
Papiito told the Jamaica Observer’s Splash that since the song’s release in December he has been getting exceptional feedback from fans who fully endorse its message.
“The reaction has been tremendous. We are still promoting it, and so we’ve been in nightclubs across the Corporate Area trying to push it out there some more, and each time it’s played at these venues the crowd is just so accepting. They love it,” he said.
In addition to Celebrate Life, Papiito also released two other singles in 2024 — Ap Bussdown and Essence. Papiito says he is looking forward to doing even more in 2025. He is especially excited about partnering with Grammy Award-winning producer Anju Blaxx on upcoming projects.
“I have been doing music professionally since I finished Rising Stars in 2014, and since then I have been working with a lot of different persons, but in 2024 I managed a partnership with Anju Blaxx’s Blackstate team. I think that has set a very good pace for this year and I’m excited to see what’s next,” he said.
Along with the singles he hopes to release this year, Papiito is also anxious to making more live appearances. Already the entertainer is scheduled to perform at the Essence of Reggae Festival set for the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre on February 1.
