The highly anticipated Black River Youth Film Festival is back for its second staging, set to take place on Friday, February 21, 2025 at St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) in Santa Cruz.

As part of its mission to foster young creative talent in Jamaica, the festival continues to provide a platform for youth film-makers between the ages of 14 and 18 years old to showcase their work, engage with industry professionals, and celebrate the power of storytelling through film.

With growing excitement around the festival, organisers have extended the film submission deadline to February 10, 2025, giving more young film-makers across the country the opportunity to submit their projects and participate in this landmark event.

“We are thrilled to see the enthusiasm and creativity of our young film-makers,” said Dr Ava Brown, festival organiser. “The extension allows even more participants to share their stories and contribute to the rich cultural tapestry of Jamaica through film.”

The Black River Youth Film Festival plays a crucial role in nurturing Jamaica’s next generation of storytellers, offering an avenue for students and emerging film-makers to gain exposure, network with industry leaders, and develop their craft.

The festival will feature screenings, panel discussions, and interactive workshops designed to equip young creatives with the tools and knowledge they need to thrive in the global film industry.
