Reno on three-game win streak in JFF Championship

Reno FC made it three straight wins in the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) Championship by beating Mount Pleasant FA juniors 2-0 in their Zone B game played at the Llandilo Sports Complex on Saturday.

Reno FC, who made it to the semi-finals last season after a slow start, are off to a much better start as they had to wait until their seventh game last season to get their third win.

Meanwhile, Lime Hall FC and Meadforest FC both stayed locked at the top of Zone A, on seven points, with wins on Saturday.

Reno FC were scoring their first win over the St Ann-based club that played under the Browns Town name last season, after they had lost 3-1 then drew 2-2.

Javin Williams gave Reno FC the lead when he scored his first goal of the season, in the 43rd minute before Everton Blackwood added a second, in the 66th minute, a minute after he was subbed on to the field, his second goal of the season.

Falmouth United stayed in second place, improving to seven points, two behind Reno FC by blanking Holland PYC 2-0 at the Trelawny Stadium.

Tejay Cooper scored the opening goal in the 22nd minute before Tevone Kerr added a second in the 49th minute, both players scoring their second goal of the season.

Carlos Campbell’s 32nd-minute goal gave Lime Hall a 1-0 win over Baptist Alliance to stay ahead on goal difference as the St Thomas club lost for the first time this season.

Meadforest FC were also 1-0 winners, edging Spanish Town Police at the Constant Spring Sports Complex with Chevaun Warren scoring the only goal of the game in the 82nd minute.

Former champions Treasure Beach FC scored their first win, beating St Bess United 2-0 at Breds Sports Complex with goals from Antwone Smith in the fourth minute and Ferron Messam in the 45th minute.

The win saw Treasure Beach climb into fourth spot in Zone B, tied on four points with Mount Pleasant Duncans United.

Duncans United played out a 1-1 draw with Petersfield FC, who were earning their first point after three games.

Tru-Juice FC got their first win, beating Portlanders FC 2-0 at Dinthill Technical with goals coming from Curtis Lawes in the 50th minute and Daniel Russell in the 76th minute.

Progressive FC were forced to come from behind to beat Grays Inn SC 2-1 at Carder Park.

Michael Cousins sent Grays Inn ahead when he scored in the 27th minute and led 1-0 at half-time. Antwone Wilson equalised for Progressive in the 47th minute before O’Brien Reid scored the winner in the 70th minute. It was his league-leading third goal.
